Meet Katie

I am a mom, wife, teacher, and videographer.

My husband, Brandon, and I met at a mutual friend's wedding in Savannah, GA. He lived in Michigan and I lived in New York City. Two people, living two completely different lives. But after our first conversation and the dozens to follow later through texts and phone calls, we fell for each other. Despite being miles apart, we survived two years of long distance dating. We got married in Frankenmuth, MI. He is a huge part of Katie Mae Films, and while he will say it's all my business, I really could not do this without him. He often joins me as a second shooter as well. Back when Katie Mae Films was just a dream that felt like a long-shot, he bought me a Mac Book with Final Cut Pro for my birthday.

We have two adorable kids. They bring so much joy and craziness to our lives. I am also a high school teacher. I started filming weddings three years ago, and love that it fits so perfectly into our lives and allows for me to meet awesome couples and create.

When I am not mommin', teaching, filming or editing, I enjoy exploring new restaurants, watching home makeover shows, and cruising the backroads with Brandon and the kids in our Jeep.

why I love what I do

Every time Brandon and I watch a completed wedding film one of us says, "I wish we had video from our wedding." When we got married we opted to save money and skip the videographer, and I can tell you we regret that decision so much. A few months after our wedding, we attended a friend's wedding. They did not have a videographer, so right before the ceremony I grabbed my iPhone and shot a few video clips. I filmed other little details from the day

and then about a week later surprised them with a short video. I remember wishing that we had even that. Filming weddings was a dream of mine for many years. I started out filming and editing videos in high school. The hobby grew and the more I learned, I knew that I would love to give people the memories from their wedding day that I so wish I had. I love hearing your stories and preserving those stories through film.
